I predict a swing back. I just completed permanently deleting my Facebook account, and I predict there will be more.
Is it because it's a gigantic assed waste of time? You might think so, since that's one of my biggest complaints... but it's not.
Facebook is continually sharing more and more information with advertisers and the internet as a whole. As they open up this information, your chances of having your private (or other) information shared where you really don't want it becomes increasingly likely. I'm not talking about where they fuck up and accidentally allow information to leak (such as the recent issue with private chats being made public - which has been fixed by the way), I'm talking about Facebook purposely sharing your info you might have thought was private.
Fuck those social networking sites. They don't do what they do for free... check your privacy tab in Facebook, look at the new pilot program where they have started sharing more of your info with advertisers... pay attention and realize what they are saying about making your online experience richer... they really mean it's making THEM richer.
Those of you that remain on Facebook, just be aware of what's going on as best you can.
