An intelligent person would realize that using glass on BOTH SIDES of a phone is a bad idea. Instead of having a 50% chance of shattering the phone when dropped, it's now more like 100%.
The new glass which has been modified to resist scratches is more brittle than before, so take that percentage up even a few more notches. One of those phones was "dropped" 1 foot after sliding down the owner's leg as he stood up with the phone in his lap.
I wondered how long it would take for these pictures to start showing up, not long at all. Oh, and to add insult to injury, Apple has no replacement parts to fix these yet.
And by the way, you don't need to quote me when my post is right above your reply. LOL! A quick press of the space bar will get you a quick reply box.

To which I reply [f2] and - what idiot wouldn't buy a case for a glass phone?
Seriously... I think I saw those pics a day after the phone was released but knew even before I ordered it was glass on both sides. It's just a chance one would have to take. I tell ya, though - I was pretty nervous about carrying the phone around without a case for as many days as I did. There's a lot of decent choices out there and I got mine at BB. No, I didn't buy the $30 rubber band (Bumper) LOL.
Why should anyone HAVE to buy a case for a phone? Doesn't it make more sense to engineer the thing to be durable to begin with? It is a portable device after all. They just make the phone bulkier than it needs to be.
I've never believed a case is going to really be all that much help anyway, but now it's far from an option.
That coverage is not $99. It's a lie. It's $99 to start it, then $50 every time you use it. BS. So you pay $99 in case you never need it, then a total of $149 if you do the first time, and $50 every time afterward. What a scam. You can put a new screen on a 3GS for $99.

You bought a glass phone. You're going to have to deal with that fact. If not, the get your money back and kwitcherbitchin. It is what it is. No bitching from you or anyone else, at this point, is going to change that anytime soon.
You buy insurance, you pay a deductible. I don't see the problem - other than the price might be a little high. Nonetheless, if one isn't inclined to repair their own phone - which I actually am - then I don't see a problem with Squaretrade.

I'm carrying a Samsung phone right now. I haven't bought anything yet.
And yes, I reserve the right to bitch, whether I end up buying it or not. I bitched about my 3G all the time, mostly due to it locking up, being slow as shit, and dropping calls.

Hey, if you got one already, see how hot it gets on a long call or during charging. I was always afraid the heat issue was compounded by having a case on it.

Funny you should mention that. It was a concern since there's a new processor in the mix. Longest call thus far is >30 minutes and there really was no heat issue. Definitely none during charging. The 3GS was way worse but still not horrible.
Doug can probably add here.

Apple finally stated a software patch will be out for the reception issues. I'm curious to know how they will fix a physical problem with a software patch.
